These posts stood at the Dau Gate, the first gateway to Fort Stotsenburg and Clark Field from early 1900 until the Japanese occupation in 1942. The Japanese burrowed them and used them for landfill. The posts were discovered unbroken in the area in 1965. There were several plans to move them elsewhere but in 1984 the US Air Force finally chose the parade grounds as the final erection spot for the posts.
